Every industry requires skill; as the saying goes, "If you don't know something, you'll be clueless." Painting is no exception, and the problem of brush sticking is a common issue. How can this be solved?
Hanfeng Brush Industry believes that only by mastering the correct brush usage method can brush sticking be minimized. Many paint suppliers specify the correct application procedure in their instructions: soak and moisten new brushes in clean tap water before use, generally for 10 to 15 minutes. An ideal method is to soak the brushes in tap water (hot water is better) with 1% laundry detergent dissolved in it.
When dipping the brush in paint, submerge it in the can to no more than half the length of the bristles, ideally one-third. After dipping, lightly touch the can wall several times with the brush tip to ensure the brush is fully coated with paint without dripping.
When painting, the brush angle should be 45° relative to the surface. When painting walls and ceilings, brush vertically, using a long stroke and light pressure. When painting wood, brush with the grain.
When applying oil-based paint, back-brushing can improve the appearance of the paint film. However, when applying latex paint, especially semi-gloss or gloss paint, back-brushing should be avoided. Applying latex paint requires a thick film and good hiding power; clean, crisp brush strokes are essential for achieving optimal results.
